A period of profound transformation, beginning in the late 18th century in Britain. It marks the transition from a craft economy to a mechanized industrial economy. The main innovations include the invention of machines, the rise of factories, the development of transport (railways, steamships) and the use of new energy sources such as coal. This revolution has led to major economic, social and cultural changes, including urbanization and population growth.

Refers to technological advances that have reduced the time required to travel and communicate over long distances. With the innovations in transport (trains, planes) and communications (telegraph, internet), it has become easier to overcome geographical barriers, bringing people and places closer together on a global scale.

Key step that marks a crucial turning point in a project or process and will have a decisive influence on the outcome of events or final success.

Post-war America =

The period after 1945, marked by strong economic growth, rising middle class and increased influence of the US as a world superpower. This period is also characterized by the Cold War with the Soviet Union and the rise of social movements, especially for civil rights.

Town near Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, famous for being the site where Richard Trevithick ran the first steam locomotive on rails in 1804. This event marks an important milestone in the development of railways and the industrial revolution.
